There no wonder that each spring, ladies are renewing their purses collection, at least with two-three new items, if not more. I make no exception to this rule, so I’ve just got a new handbag from Mango and a no-name one which I liked very much because it was in purple, my favorite color, and it had a very elegant and charming combination of patterns on the fabric. I’ll try to take some photos and post them here, so you can see what I’m talking about.
Now, for spring 2009, here are the Caprobags Blog awards, based on my personal preferences. Your opinions may differ, so everybody is welcome to express them in the comments.
Fendi Peekaboo
This new proposal by Fendi has turned heads and broke hearts. At the runway parade, the models had their purses semi-open, therefore not attractive to be worn on crowded streets, from the obvious security reasons. However, the bags can be closed completely, via the turnlock clasp, if necessary. Some friends of mine thought the bag looks very much like a Birkin, but we all agreed it’s a cool handbag, so we voted it on the third position in our personal spring 2009 purses top.
Louis Vuitton – The Stephen Sprouse Collection
Exotic, vicious, delicious, glamorous, the new Louis Vuitton collection is a tribute to Stephen Sprouse, the artist who stepped in the shoes of Andy Warhol, but showing originality and being well known for his downtown street fashion vision.
These crazy LV bags featuring the fuchsia graffiti from a 1987 design and the abstract roses taken from an earlier design of the artist, will never pass unnoticed, and it seems that many celebrities are paying a tribute to Stephen Sprouse, by wearing the LV latest creations. Among them, Madonna, Ashlee Simpson, Sarah Jessica Parker.
I saw it as deserving the second position in my top.
Rebecca Minkoff
The Spring 2009 collection includes several pieces which attracted my attention, but I’ve chosen the MAB Luxe as being the purse of the year 2009. I’m in love with it’s shape since Rebecca launched the MAB style, and I’m glad she kept this shape for the new model. The genuine Italian leather is a pleasure for both your fingers and your eyes, and its generous size (14″ x 7″ x 10.5″) satisfies my needs. I see it as a bag appropriate for going to the office, good for taking at meetings be them with clients or friends, appropriate for shopping and for visiting your mother. I don’t know about yours, but my mom would faint if she saw me wearing one of those LV Sprouse bags described above. She’s more Rebecca Minkoff’s style.
Of course I like more than three handbags. If I made a top ten, I would have mentioned Coach, Cole Haan, Isabella Fiore, Balenciaga or Tignanello as well. But I w3anted to make it top three, so I was very severe when I evaluated all those purses.
