When we wrote the review of Coach laptop bags, we thought briefcases were the most suitable for carrying your laptop or notebook with you. However, that was more than one year aog, and since then, many smaller laptops became fashionable. Called netbooks, these mini-laptops feature screens of 8″ – 12″ and they are very lightweight, thus being suitable even for regular tote bags, messenger bags or diaper bags. Business accessories for women don’t necessarily have to look serious and rigid, because modern business women aren’t like that anymore. This is why we took a look inside older Coach collections in order to make a selection of bags that can be used to carry your laptop around:
Thompson Crossbody Satchel: priced at $378, this bag can be worn on the shoulder or crossbody and it is roomy enough for hosting a 15″ notebook inside. It features an outside front open pocket, thus being a good choice in case you have to travel, because you can use it for keeping your travel documents handy.
Transatlantic Messenger Bag: this one is a bit more expensive, $498, but it surely looks elegant. It features a flap with two pushlock closures and it can accommodate a 14″ laptop. For bigger ones, we aren’t sure it will still close completely, so if you think of buying one, you’d better take your laptop to the bags shop with you.
New Peyton Embossed Exotics Large Carryall: this bag is 13 3/4″ long x 10″ high x 5″ wide, therefore it’s a good fit for netbooks and not for classic, bigger laptops. The carryall is made or embossed leather, it has a fabric lining and a hidden magnetic snap closure. It also features a lot of pockets, so you won’t have to worry about finding your smaller items inside, even if you use it to carry your mini-laptop with you when you meet your friends. It’s surely a bag for elegant women and it fits all occasions one could imagine, that ask for a bag. You can have this large laptop bag is either ivory, fuchsia or black with matching hardware.
The basic rule when choosing a laptop bag is to make sure it can accommodate your laptop while still allowing room for your regular items, because you don’t want to carry two bags with you. The size of the bag should always exceed by at least 1/2″ the size of your laptop. If you aren’t sure how to measure it, you may want to go to the shop with your laptop and try the bags to find the perfect match for you. Remember that you also want to be able to close your bag easily, without forcing the zippers or the closures, otherwise they would get deteriorated very quickly and you’ll need to buy a new bag every other month or so.
